Peter Rabbit

Last week while tooling around Salvation Army I came across this:

Wedgwood Peter Rabbit Children's Place Setting

Normally, I would have admired this set but I would have left it there because I do not really have a need for a children's set of dishes. But this time was different. There is a teacher at school that is having a baby next month and I thought what a wonderful gift. I have never gifted anything thrift before so this will be new for me. I am sure it is all in the presentation so I plan to find a Peter Rabbit book and put this set in a basket with a blue and white striped sleeper I bought and some other goodies. I think this should be a hit.

Springtime Is Almost Here

I have recently have felt motivated to put a display up for spring and Easter. I am not sure what has overtaken me. It could be the need to see some beauty in my house or it could be all the wonderful blogs that I visit everyday that have marvelous displays for every holiday. I think the latter is responsible for recent need for decorations.

When I went to check out the new lower prices at the Goodwill, I found some really cute figurines that I will be cute for my Easter/Spring vignettes.

Ceramic Rabbits - .95 each
These two little rabbits are so cute. If you turn then to the other side they have a bow around the neck.

Bunny Planter - .95 cents
I plan on getting some clover at The Home Depot to fill his little pot.

Enesco Toothpick Holder - .55 cents
The only reason I think this is a toothpick holder is because there was a toothpick lodged down in it.

Yellow Bunny - .95 cents
Originally marked $1.95 by the folks at GW, he has a hole in the back to put cotton balls so it looks like he has a fluffy tail. I didn't have any cotton balls to demonstrate.

Yellow Duck - .25 cents

Happy Spring Flower - .55 cents

Duck Baby Planter - .95 cents
This the piece de resistance in my haul. This is the first baby planter I have ever purchased. I just want to sit and stare at it because it is so darling.

That is all for now. I really need a basket and some eggs. I gotta keep looking that's all. " )

Goodwill Did What?!?!

I have long contended that the powers that be at our local Goodwills have been taking the long hit off of a large bong. The prices on most things were outrageous. Well, imagine my surprise while watching tv a commercial appears that touts new lower pricing at our local Goodwills that will last forever! What???? I knew that I had to make a trip and see what was going on and if for real they were going to lower the prices. Forever!

On Sunday I loaded up the boy and headed to the downtown location. I walked in and headed straight to the shoes (after all they were right by the entrance.) Low and behold, they had lowered the prices on shoes from $3.50 to $2.50. Not bad for stinky shoes that others feet have been in. After perusing the shoe area, no cute ones that would fit me were found. Bummer! I headed over to the kitchenware and knick knack section. No Pyrex was to be found but I did find some cute rabbits and a little duck that are going to make a cute Easter display. I will share these next post. Prices were extremely decent for Goodwill. The most I paid was .95 cents. Crazy I know!

After finding all goodies I could in that area I headed over to look at the clothes. I found the following:
Torrid Skirt $3.25

Torrid $3.25
Sorry the pic is so cruddy. Don't get me started on my most recent point and shoot camera. The skirt is white with green and yellow polka dots.

Notations Skirt - $3.25

Floral Camp Shirt - $2.25
I also bought a pair of pink capri pants for $2.50. They will go great with this shirt.

Apparently I can't wait for spring. Everything I bought has sherbert colors in them. I am going to where the black and yellow skirt today. Of course, I will have to winter it up since in is supposed to be in the high 50's today.

Overall I was impressed with Goodwill's attempt to listen to their customers and lower their prices. I am now more willing to buy more knowing that I will not have to take a second on my house to afford it.
 Kudos Goodwill!!!!

Happy Valentine's Day

Snoopy and I want to wish you and yours a very happy and love filled Valentine's Day.

So far my day has been wonderful. As an early V-Day present, my husband bought me a new laptop. I now have the technology to make a post. The time not so much but the technology yes! As soon as I finish sewing the costumes for my son's drumline (18 costumes yikes!), I will be posting a few dressing on a dime posts. I have been planning a polkadot palooza week and I have a hot leopard dress that I can't wait to style. Plus, there are loads of Pyrex to share. I can't sew fast enough.

Here is a big hug and a kiss to you all!!!!

Where Oh Where Have I Been

You may have been asking where oh where have I been? Where shall I start? First, my husband broke the power supply to my laptop so I have not had access to my photos or any of information so I could post on my blog.
" ( This made me mad because I had some extremely cute things to show you like my. 95 cent Napco Santa Claus pepper shaker and the tablescape that I made with said shaker and a cake plate that I bought during the summer. Sigh..... I am working on a new computer and I have this new android phone so I can post words at least.

I am looking forward to once again sharing my finds with you. Let's hope that I can find my dream computer soon.

Let's Talk Turkey

This last week was parent conferences at school. Because of said conferences, I had an early schedule at my early job. What did this mean? This meant that I had time to leisurely look at my favorite thrifts. Yay me!!!! And let me say, they didn't disappoint.

Melmac Turkey Platter - $3.98
I was at the RAD Thrift Store and seen this little beauty sitting on the floor. There were two ladies who gave me a dirty look because I am sure they were headed over to it next. I got there first ladies. You snooze you lose. Hah!!! The label on the back says Apollo Ware by Alexander Barna. I haven't investigated it yet but I probably will soon. It will definitely be put to use this Thanksgiving. I can taste the turkey now. " ) Yum!

If you have turkey you gotta have something to serve it on. Enter my next finds...

Franciscan Harvest Brown Wheat Plates - $1.91 ea. (3 total)

I was drawn to these plates by their gold color. I fell in love with the wheat pattern on front and knew I had to buy them when I seen the Franciscan stamp on the back. I E-Bayed them and found out that they are from 1953. I am currently considering buying the matching salad plates on E-Bay. We shall see.

Pier One Plates - $9.95 for set of 10 [lates

I bought this set of plates at the Goodwill. I have the serving bowl that matches this set. It came with 5 dinner plates and 5 salad plates. I can't wait to use them.
